What to do when life seems boring

Image
So you've completed your studies, got yourself a bachelor's degree, worked for over a year or two and realize that life is not interesting anymore. What do you do? You probably spend your weekend waking hours or just day dream about what you could have done to spice up your life but all you can think of was the good old days with your friends and family when you dont have real responsibilies in life. You would probably wonder back in time to your uni days where you were on top of the world and nothing can stop you but now reality hits you and you feel like you are back to square one and have to start all over again. IS IT LACK OF OPPORTUNITY? 1. Friends - if you dont see your friends at least once in a while, they might not be there when you go around. People dont wait around like they used to. Make time for people and they will make time for you. Good friends will never let you down. 2. Make an effort to meet people - if youre sitting around a beer carton or a 40...

Week 1 Day 3 - Kill Smoke

Image
It has been three days since I last puffed a cigarette. I feel refreshed and clean. Although the urge keeps popping up from time to time, I remind myself of the consequences - I mean, what is it that you really get from puffing a cigarette. It does not keep you awake, it does not get you that high or make you feel motivated at all. For about a minute or two, you get to suck in hundreds of chemicals and regrett afterwards. Imagine if someone gave you a present, say a priceless painting. Would you paint over it? Would you burn it or throw it on your floor and us it as a rag? No one would. Similarly, your body was given to you as a present, do all you can to protect it and keep it healthy. Thoughts like this keep me concious and never to return to bad habits. I know its just day three and most people would say, "Give it a week or so and he will go back to old habits". Well I'd like to prove them wrong, I'd like to be the person to lets his YES mean YES and NO mean NO...

Week 1 - Kill Smoke

It has been almost a week (since last Saturday) that I decided to return to my good life. My biggest weakness is now cigarette. I began experimenting with cigarettes when I was far from my family and in the midst of my friends who are great chewers of betel nut and smokers (of course, they do not know the truth and they grew up in an environment where it was okay to practice these habits). I was warned that going to a University or Tertiary institution is a big step and most young people fall into Satan's trap and practice immorality and stray away from Bible principles. I never knew my biggest weakness would be cigarettes. I never touched cigarettes growing up, it was considered unclean and harmful, yet I fell in the trap. A lesson I've learnt then is that, never consider yourself fully equipped to take on the world because you are never ready. Always train, keep your mind sharp so that you can avoid such. That was back in 2014 and I became addicted and it felt...

Turning Point

I grew up in a very comfortable, safe, caring and loving family. Everything we did was according to the Bible's principles. We take it very seriously. My parrents are Jehovah's witnesses. We never missed any meetings with the local congregations although we live 45 minutes away. We took PMVs, walked or sometimes slept over at a family's house just to attend meetings. From a young age, my brothers and sister learnt that it was paramount that we remain in the faith and that all we do should be guided by bible principles even though we are exposed to all the influences of this world. We lived stress-free and happy and even if we stumble upon rough patches, we made sure it is resolved as soon as possible. Years came by, I went out to boarding school, it seems the farther I get from my family, I let my guard down and was curious about the life outside the faith. I began experimenting on alchohol and tobacco. I could not face going back in. The thing about knowing the tr...
